Design Science has been playing a leadership role in the development of the
MathML standard since its inception. We are actively developing MathML-capable
products and solutions for all phases of the publishing process.
Design Science MathFlow™ consists of
MathFlow for Arbortext, MathFlow for XMetaL, and the MathFlow SDK.
MathFlow for Arbortext
Design Science has partnered with PTC to create 3 products that
install into Arbortext Editor and Arbortext Publishing Engine. Each product may
be purchased separately,
and used as fixed or concurrent (floating) licenses.
- MathFlow
Editor: a full-featured WYSIWYG MathML equation editor that installs
into Arbortext Editor for authoring and editing MathML equations.
-
MathFlow Composer: works with Arbortext Editor or Publishing Engine for
PDF and web output.
-
MathFlow Exchange: imports Microsoft Word documents with equations
(MathType and Microsoft Equation Editor equations), and converts them into
XML+MathML documents.
If you have Arbortext installed and want to evaluate MathFlow for Arbortext, please contact us.
MathFlow for XMetaL
Design Science has partnered with JustSystems to create
the
MathFlow Editor
that installs into XMetaL Author or XMAX, and can be used as fixed or concurrent
(floating) licenses.
If you have XMetaL installed and want to evaluate the MathFlow Editor, please contact us.
MathFlow SDK
The MathFlow SDK
(beta) consists of 3 different equation editors, 2 different composition
components, and API documentation, for building math functionality into
publishing workflows other than Arbortext and XMetaL. Equation editing and/or
composition can also be made to work with a variety of applications, such as wikis, web-based distributed authoring,
eLearning, assessment,
OEM product integration and distribution, etc.
If you want to evaluate the MathFlow SDK (beta),
please contact us.
We are interested in hearing
about your technology needs; if there are products or functionality you would like to see
us develop sooner rather than later, or just need some advice, please
contact us.
White papers
Design Science, having worked with enterprise publishing professionals since
1987, has gained valuable insight into the challenges and solutions of
integrating math in publishing workflows. Below are featured white papers we
have authored to share with our customers.
- MathML is XML: Maximize Your Investment: Forward-thinking
enterprises are working with MathML for encoding mathematical notation.
MathML is the W3C standard for representing math in XML, and is supported by
many related software systems, including web browsers, XML editors, computer
algebra systems, search engines, screen readers, and rendering and
composition engines. This paper describes the benefits of MathML for your
enterprise.
- MathML Workflows in STM Publishing: Most publishers are moving to
XML-based production workflows. Since mathematical notation is one of the
defining features of STM (Science/Technical/Medical) content, and because MathML is the XML standard for representing
mathematics, MathML plays an important role in STM workflows.
