"Illegal Operation (Invalid page fault)" Error Message in
Microsoft Equation 3.0

Issue
After opening Microsoft Equation Editor 3.0, upon their first keystroke to
enter a character, some users receive an error message. Clicking on details
reveals the following:

Reason
The problem is caused by a failure in the Microsoft Office installer to set
the default fonts used by Microsoft Equation 3.0. Without having default fonts
set for Microsoft Equation 3.0, when you try to create mathematical expressions,
the font from which characters should be drawn is undefined, causing the
"Illegal Operation (Invalid Page Fault)" error message.
