"No equations were found and/or updated" message when using the Format Equation, Convert Equation or Export Equation commands in Microsoft Word.

Users may receive the following message when attempting to Format, Convert or Export MathType equations when using Microsoft Word 2002 (XP) or Word 2003:

"No equations were found and/or updated"

Reason

This problem occurs for users of Microsoft Office XP or Microsoft Office 2003 after installing the Microsoft Security Update MS05-012. This update was released in February 2005, and is described in the Microsoft Knowledgebase article KB 873333. Microsoft has fixed the problem but have not yet released the fix. Solution

We have released a new version of MathType that avoids the problem caused by the Microsoft Security Update. This file is available for download at http://www.dessci.com/en/dl.

To install, simply download and save MathType 5.2c to your hard drive, and double-click the MathType 5.2 Setup.exe icon to install it over your current MathType installation.
