How to disable PostScript Comments on Macintosh PICT files
The information in this document applies to:
|
MathType 6.x (Macintosh)
MathType 5.x (Macintosh)
|
Microsoft Office 2011 (Macintosh)
Microsoft Office 2008 (Macintosh)
Microsoft 2004 (Macintosh)
Microsoft Office X (Macintosh)
|
Issue
When saving MathType equation objects as PICT files, PostScript comments are
written by MathType. These are commands for drawing the whole equation in
PostScript rather than QuickDraw. When saving PICT files, the size of the file
is larger then saving it without the PostScript comments. Also, when using PICT
files in PowerPoint (98, 2001, X and 2004) the "Recolor" command does not work
with the embedded PostScript information. You will receive this error message " PowerPoint cannot recolor this picture. This picture has no
colors or fills, or it contains embedded PostScript information".
Solution
You can disable the PostScript comments by editing the MathType Preference
file on your computer. Follow the steps below:
- Close MathType
- Navigate to: Harddrive\Users\~your user name folder~\Library\Preferences\
- Open the "MathType 5 Preferences" or "MathType 6 Preferences" file with a text editor
- Change the line EmbedPSInPict=1 value to 0
- Save changes to the preference file
