Intego VirusBarrier Erroneously Reports "W97M/Generic" Infection in MathType 6.7

The information in this document applies to:

  • MathType 6.7h for Mac

You have installed VirusBarrier anti-virus software on your Mac, and after a scan you get a report similar to this one:

VirusBarrier incorrectly reports MathType macro as infected

There are no viruses in MathType. Macros certainly can carry viruses and other infections, but the MathType macros do not contain viruses. This is a false positive report.

Intego has reviewed the file and determined it to be safe. If yours is still reported as being infected, please run NetUpdate to update the VirusBarrier definitions.

We hope this has been helpful. As always, please let us know if you have questions about this, or if you have additional techniques that work. We'd love to hear from you.
